ABOUT US
A Scottish-Argentinian joint enterprise.
Fish Patagonia was founded in 2023 by Peter and Holly, with the aim of creating a truly independent, locally owned and operated fly fishing outfitter in Northern Patagonia. Our mission is to bring a real focus on attention to detail in planning and perfecting every element of our guests’ experience with us while we show them the very best of Argentinian fishing and hospitality. For this reason, we place a real emphasis on spending time with every single one of you, both on and off the water.
Both Peter and Holly bring years of respective experience to Fish Patagonia. Peter contributes his vast local knowledge of fishing the area and working with numerous outfitters, and Holly’s former corporate career and seasons spent working at Tipiliuke Lodge ensure we keep things running smoothly off the water.
Peter Treichel
Born and raised in San Martín de los Andes, Peter started fishing at the age of 5 with his father Kurt, and was tying flies by the age of 12 before beginning his guiding career the moment he hit 18. Since then, he has worked with a range of outfitters from the area, most recently Patagonia River Guides North, where he was a full time guide for 13 years since its launch in 2010.
Peter has a passion for fly fishing, but especially for helping his guests catch fish. His days off work in summer are often spent guiding his friends and family, spending every spare moment in the water. He knows his home waters like the back of his hand, and is always exploring new spots to share with his guests.
Peter worked a season at Rainbow Valley Lodge in Montana, and spent another summer fishing most of the rivers in Montana, Idaho and Wyoming. Most of his trips revolve around fly fishing: he has travelled around the globe seeking fishing adventures in saltwater and freshwater, most recently visiting Mexico, the chalk streams of Stockbridge in England and the salmon runs of Scotland.
In the off season, when not fishing abroad Peter guides ski tours in Patagonia with PowderQuest.
Holly Conyers
When she is not busy with Fish Patagonia business, Scottish-born Holly lives and works as a gaucha (cowgirl) on Estancia Tipiliuke. She first came to Patagonia in 2014 to spend a few months working at Tipiliuke Lodge after graduating with a law degree from the University of Oxford, and fell madly in love with all things Argentina. She headed back to London to pursue a career at law firm Freshfields, swearing to return to Patagonia one day.
She finally did just that seven years later, taking a ‘career break’ to return to Tipiliuke to spend another season as a hostess and riding guide at the lodge while training for the Gaucho Derby, a 500km horse race across Southern Patagonia. During this stint she met Peter, started fishing, and ended up indefinitely extending that ‘career break’.
Alongside her gaucho career and Fish Patagonia, she now also organises the Derby. She loves meeting our guests and sharing her deep love for her adopted home, ideally while guiding around Tipiliuke on a horse.
