FAQ

Q: Why Fish Patagonia?

A: We pride ourselves on being a small, locally owned and managed company, benefitting from all of our guides’ lifetimes of experience and providing a premium service. We give our full attention to each guest we welcome, and ensure that every trip we organise is truly tailored around our guests’ preferences. If we don’t have one of our trusted expert guides available for you, we won’t book your trip: we are focused on quality over quantity. No detail will slip through the cracks.

Q: How do I get to Patagonia?

A: Patagonia is probably closer than you think. We explain how to reach us on our ‘Getting Here‘ page. While we don’t organise your travel to or from Patagonia, we have a partner who can assist with your international and domestic travel arrangements.

Q: Do I need to be an experienced fisherman?

A: Absolutely not! We welcome everybody, from total first timers to seasoned professionals looking for a real challenge. Our guides enjoy teaching almost as much as they enjoy fishing themselves: for them, it’s more satisfying helping someone catch their first ever fish than catching one themselves. For those who don’t fish at all, Patagonia is also full of other activities to enjoy.

Q: How long are your trips?

A: As long as you want them to be! We take guests day fishing from San Martín with no need to book accommodation with us, for those just passing through the area with limited time to spare. Most of our guests staying with us in our partner lodges or Casa Quilquihue (or a combination of the two) visit for 7 nights, but some come for longer and some for just a few days. Just get in touch to let us know what works for you, and we’ll take it from there.

Q: What do I need to bring?

A: For fishing, just yourselves and your clothes! We can provide all your fishing equipment, from waders and boots to rods, lines and flies. That said, if you’re a passionate fisherman and prefer to fish with your own kit, feel free to bring it down with you. Once your trip is booked, we send you a detailed packing list.

Q: Where can I find your prices?

A: Our prices vary depending on the time of year you visit, whether you’re day fishing or staying in lodges and what kind of accommodation you’re looking to book. For that reason, please contact us to tell us about what you’re looking for so we can provide you with our rates for your trip.

Q: When’s best to visit?

A: The season runs from 1 November to 31 May. The different periods within that season are explained a bit more on our page about the season. We will always advise you honestly when booking your trip about what time of the year is best for what you want to get out of fishing with us, even if that means we might have to wait a bit longer to meet you.
